I hated school and did everything I could do to get out of my work. I
played football and baseball in elementary school, then I played football and tried my
hand at wrestling in high school. I also drove a school bus my sophomore through senior
years. My favorite class was AFJROTC ( Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps),
and I excelled fast in this class. I started off as a Cadet Master Sergeant and I ended up
in the twelfth grade as the Squadron Commander with the rank of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel.
As my farewell and legacy to the program I along with the Air Force advisors started the
"Annual Squadron Commander Award."
From high school I left straight for the United States Marine Corps. This
proved to be alot more than I expected, but I loved it and soon joined in hand over foot
to receive high proficiency and conduct marks on my yearly evaluations. I was promoted out
of bootcamp to Private First Class and then on to the School of Infantry where I was
promoted meritoriously to Lance Corporal. From here I went on to Marine Security Force
Battalion, where I was trained as a Marine Security Guard and stationed onboard the USS
Saratoga (CV-60) aircraft carrier out of Mayport Naval Air Station in Jacksonville,
Florida. From this duty station I was involved in "Desert Shield/Storm"
carrying out various tasks assigned to the battlegroup. After we came back to port it was
time for me to go to the fleet and I was assigned to Alpha Company 1st Battalion 7th
Marines in Twenty-nine Palms, California. At this great duty station I was lucky enough to
be involved in "Operation Restore Hope," Somalia in
other words. I shortly came up for my rotation out of service and so I got out of service
and came home to good old North Carolina.
Once here I worked as a carpenters apprentice for a few short months until
a "rookie school" came up and I enrolled in B.L.E.T. (Basic Law
Enforcement Training). This got me off to my start in Law Enforcement.
Shortly after graduation I was hired on a full-time temporary Bailiff
position for a local Sheriff's Department. After about nine months I was
hired by the Yadkin County Sheriff's Department, where I worked for five
and a half years. In November of 1998 I went to work for the Kernersville
Police Department where I worked until September 12th of 2003. As of
September 15th, 2003 I work for the
High
Point Police Department assigned to the Patrol Bureau.
Well, that about wraps it up for me with the exception of my wonderful
wife and my two wonderful children. I have been married for five years and I can honestly
say that everyday I love it more and more.
